Jim Lynch: Off the Top of My Head…

The Linux version has been released and there’s some coverage of it available at LinuxHardware.org and AnandTech. Read both reviews, there are some interesting conclusions about running Doom under Linux versus Windows (I won’t spoil the reviews by talking about them).

I wish I could be more excited about a Linux version of Doom 3 but I’ve already gotten bored with the Windows version. Oh well, I’m sure there will be a lot better and more interesting games that are created from the Doom 3 engine. For my part, I can’t get too excited about running around dimly lit corridors being chased by monsters – on Linux or on Windows. These days I prefer the open spaces and multiplayer madness of Unreal Tournament 2004.
