I got this message earlier today:

Error 2: share not available

Turns out I didn’t have SMB sharing on. I fixed that and restarted my iMac.

I still couldn’t get Boxee to see my shares though until I exited out of Boxee, went into XBMC for a moment and then back into Boxee.

I have no idea why this worked but it did. If you are out there having this error message then I suggest trying that. And be sure to check all of your settings too. Don’t be a dumbass like me and have SMB sharing off.

Duh.

I must say that it’s quite nice having sharing set up and working on Boxee. I have some DVDs I ripped from my collection and they work well over the network and on my large HDTV. If you have content you want to view on your TV from your iMac then give Boxee a whirl.
